Applications

Dissolving caustic in water releases a great deal of heat, so the make-up tank must be sized and cooled for it.

Safety, Handling and Compliance

Caustic soda causes severe and rapid burns, and eye contact can destroy sight in seconds. Its reaction with water is strongly exothermic.

• Always add caustic to water slowly, never water to caustic
• Use goggles, face shield, apron and gauntlets without exception
• Store sealed and dry; it absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from air
• Keep away from acids, aluminium, zinc and tin
• SDS issued on request
