Technical Grade Sodium Bicarbonate in Bulk

Sodium bicarbonate is the safest alkali in common industrial use. It cannot over-correct pH the way caustic soda can, because it buffers around pH 8.3 and simply stops, which is why it is chosen for effluent neutralisation and for dry injection into flue gas. Assay, particle size and chloride are stated on the batch Certificate of Analysis. Fine grades are used for dry sorbent injection.

Handling and Storage

Sodium bicarbonate is low hazard, but it decomposes above about 50 degrees C and cakes if it takes up moisture.

• Store sealed in a dry, cool area away from heat sources
• Decomposes to soda ash above 50 degrees C, losing available bicarbonate
• Use dust protection when handling fine grades
• Keep away from acids, which cause vigorous effervescence
• SDS issued on request
