Water Filter Media in Bulk

Filter media is what actually removes suspended solids once a coagulant has done its work. Performance depends almost entirely on correct grading: effective size and uniformity coefficient decide whether a bed filters properly or channels and blinds. Specification

Media is supplied washed and graded to the sizes your filter design calls for. A sieve analysis accompanies each consignment.

• Graded silica sand, typical effective size 0.45 to 1.2 mm
• Support gravel in layers from 2 mm up to 25 mm
• Anthracite, typical effective size 0.8 to 1.6 mm
• Manganese sand for iron and manganese removal
• Packing: 50 kg bags or 1 MT jumbo bags

Dual media beds of anthracite over sand give longer runs and higher loading than sand alone, which is why most new plants specify them.

Handling and Storage

Media is inert, but silica dust is a respiratory hazard when dry material is handled or poured.

• Use dust protection when charging dry media
• Store bags off the ground and keep them sealed until charging
• Backwash new media thoroughly before commissioning
• Charge support gravel in the correct layer sequence
• Test report issued with each consignment
