Polyelectrolytes are high molecular weight polymers that bridge the small flocs left by a coagulant into large, fast-settling aggregates. They are dosed in parts per million, so the right selection matters far more than the price per kilo. Applications

Polymer is dosed after the coagulant, into a slow-mix zone, so the floc has time to form without being sheared apart.

Handling and Storage

Polymer solutions are extremely slippery and any spill must be cleaned dry before washing down. Solutions are made up at 0.1 to 0.5 percent and aged before dosing.

• Store sealed in a dry area away from direct sunlight
• Wet powder is a serious slip hazard; sweep spills up dry
• Prepare solution with a proper wetting cone to avoid fish-eyes
• Use prepared solution within about 24 hours
• SDS issued on request
