Ferrous Sulphate in Bulk

Ferrous Sulphate Heptahydrate, still widely called green vitriol, is a low-cost iron source that does three quite different jobs well: it coagulates effluent, it reduces hexavalent chromium in cement, and it corrects iron deficiency in crops and soils. Assay is stated on the batch Certificate of Analysis. Material should be reasonably fresh, since long storage in air oxidises the surface to a brown ferric coating.

Handling and Storage

The crystals are mildly acidic in solution and oxidise on exposure to air and moisture. Keep packaging sealed until use.

• Keep away from strong alkalis and oxidisers
