Sodium Hydrosulphide in Bulk

Sodium hydrosulphide is the standard sulphide source for leather dehairing and copper ore flotation. It supplies sulphide ion in a form that dissolves readily and is cheaper to transport than sodium sulphide. Its serious drawback is that contact with acid liberates hydrogen sulphide, so the handling discipline around it must be strict. Safety, Handling and Compliance

Contact with acid releases hydrogen sulphide, which is rapidly fatal at moderate concentrations and deadens the sense of smell before it kills.

• Work only with gas detection and forced ventilation in place
• Store sealed and dry; flakes are hygroscopic and oxidise in air
• Use goggles, gloves and protective clothing; the solution is caustic
• SDS issued on request
