Phosphorus Pentachloride in Bulk

Phosphorus pentachloride is a more aggressive chlorinating agent than PCl3 and is used where a carboxylic acid must be converted cleanly to an acid chloride, or a hydroxyl replaced under difficult conditions. Being a solid, it is easier to charge accurately than the liquid chlorides, but it fumes badly in humid air. Supply is restricted to licensed buyers with suitable dry handling facilities.
