Ferric Chloride in Bulk

Ferric Chloride is the coagulant of choice where phosphate removal, sulphide control or hard-to-settle sludge are the problem. It performs well at low temperatures and across a broad pH range, and it conditions sludge so it dewaters far more readily. Most buyers take the 40 percent solution because it is ready to dose. Anhydrous is supplied where freight cost over long distances matters more than handling convenience.

Applications

Dosing is set by jar test. The iron residual in treated water should be monitored, particularly for potable use.

Handling and Storage

Ferric Chloride solution is strongly acidic and stains badly. It attacks most metals, so storage and dosing lines must be lined or made from suitable plastics.

• Store in HDPE, FRP or rubber-lined tanks, never bare mild steel
• Use gloves, goggles and a face shield when handling
• Keep away from alkalis and strong oxidisers
• Anhydrous form is hygroscopic; keep sealed
• SDS issued on request
