Formaldehyde (Formalin) Bulk Supplier
Formaldehyde Solution in Bulk
Formaldehyde, supplied as 37 percent formalin, is the backbone of the wood panel industry: urea-formaldehyde and phenol-formaldehyde resins bond almost every plywood and particle board made. It is also a powerful disinfectant and biological preservative. It is a recognised carcinogen, so it is supplied on the basis that the buyer has proper vapour control in place. BulkFineChem supplies it to resin manufacturers, plywood units and laboratories across India.
Specification
Formaldehyde and methanol content are stated on the batch Certificate of Analysis. Methanol is present as a stabiliser to prevent polymerisation.
- CAS No. 50-00-0
- HSN Code 29121100
- Formaldehyde content 37 percent w/w
- Methanol stabiliser typically 5 to 12 percent
- Packing: 250 kg HDPE carboys or road tanker
Applications
Resin plants take it by tanker; smaller users take carboys. Either way it must be kept warm enough to stay in solution.
- Urea-formaldehyde and phenol-formaldehyde resin manufacture
- Plywood, particle board and laminate adhesives
- Disinfection and fumigation of poultry and mushroom houses
- Biological specimen preservation and embalming
- Intermediate in dye, rubber chemical and pharmaceutical synthesis
Safety, Handling and Compliance
Formaldehyde is classified as a human carcinogen and is a severe respiratory and eye irritant well below the concentration at which most people smell it.
- Use only with effective local exhaust ventilation and vapour monitoring
- Store above 15 degrees C; paraformaldehyde precipitates in the cold
- Use goggles, resistant gloves and respiratory protection
- Keep away from acids, alkalis, oxidisers and amines
- SDS issued on request

Questions buyers commonly ask about formalin.
- Why has white solid formed in my drum? Paraformaldehyde from cold storage; keep above 15 degrees C.
- Why does it contain methanol? It stabilises the solution and prevents polymerisation.
- Can low-methanol grade be supplied? Yes, but it needs warmer storage; discuss before ordering.
- Can I get a sample? Yes, trial quantities can be arranged.
- What documents are provided? GST invoice, batch CoA, SDS and TREM card.
